Description
For too long, beauty has been entangled in the forces of patriarchy and capitalism: objectification, shame, control, competition and consumerism. We need to find a way to do beauty differently.
The answer, according to Emma Dabiri, is resistance and disobedience. She’ll be joining us to discuss Disobedient Bodies, her radical, deeply personal and empowering book that points to ways we can all embrace our unruly beauty and enjoy our magnificent, disobedient bodies.
Emma is an Irish-Nigerian academic and the bestselling author of What White People Can Do Next and Don’t Touch My Hair, as well as a contributing editor at Elle, and owner of the viral Instagram account @disobedientbodies.
The talk will be chaired by Nell Frizzell, a journalist, Vogue columnist, and author of Holding the Baby, The Panic Years and Square One.
