Rebecca Watson, the acclaimed author of little scratch, joins us to speak about her latest powerful novel I Will Crash. She will be discussing the book with the author Eley Williams, whose formally inventive books have delighted readers and booksellers alike.

I Will Crash shows an author going from strength to strength. This moving book explores the universal themes of love, grief and forgiveness with refreshing candour and honesty – all of the compelling energy displayed in little scratch can be found here again in abundance. The novel follows Rosa, who has not seen her brother in six years and has spent that time carefully not thinking about him. Now this constructed distance has collapsed and Rosa must find a way to make peace both with her brother and with her own past.

Rebecca Watson is the author of little scratch which was shortlisted for the Goldsmith’s Prize and was adapted for stage, with acclaimed runs at Hampstead Theatre and New Diorama. She is one of Observer’s ten best debut novelists of 2021 and works as an assistant arts editor for the Financial Times.

Eley Williams is an author and editor. Her debut collection of prose, Attrib. and Other Stories, was awarded the Republic of Consciousness Prize and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize. She is also the author of The Liar’s Dictionary and has contributed stories and essays to numerous publications, including our very own Dog-Hearted.

Ticket price includes a glass of wine or a soft drink.
