We are absolutely thrilled to be joined by Booker Prize winner Paul Lynch to discuss his magisterial novel, Prophet Song.
Prophet Song was published last year to resounding praise, deservedly winning the Booker Prize in November. The jury called the novel “soul-shattering… truly a masterful work”. The novel imagines an Ireland in the grip of a government turning towards tyranny and follows the plight of a mother locked in a nightmare situation with escalating conflict and confusion.
Exhilarating, terrifying and propulsive, Prophet Song is a work of stark originality, offering a devastating vision of a country at war and a deeply moving portrait of a mother’s fight to save her family.
Paul is the author of four other novels: Red Sky At Night, Grace, Beyond the Sea and Black Snow.
This conversation will be led by the brilliant Chris Power. Chris is the author of the short story collection Mothers, which was longlisted for the Rathbones Folio Prize and shortlisted for the Edge Hill Short Story Prize, and the novel A Lonely Man.
