Daunt Books are so proud to publish the beguiling work of Elisa Shua Dusapin. Readers have been entranced by her novels which are both delicate and subtle but piercing in their social and political astuteness.
Vladivostok Circus shows Dusapin at the height of her powers. In this novel we follow Nathalie as she arrives at the circus in Vladivostok, Russia, fresh out of art college. She is there to design the costumes for a trio of artists who are due to perform one of the most dangerous acts of all: the Russian Bar.
What ensues is an intimate and beguiling account of four people learning to work with and trust one another. It explores collaboration, creativity and belonging, all the while immersing the reader in Dusapin’s trademark dreamlike prose.
Dusapin will be in conversation with novelist Rowan Hisayo Buchanan. She is the author of Harmless Like You, Starling Days and The Sleep Watcher. Rowan is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. She has won The Authors’ Club First Novel Award and a Betty Trask Award and has been shortlisted for the Costa Novel Award.
