Description
We are so happy to be joined by ceramicist, illustrator and author Laura Carlin.
Her most recent book for children is London: A History which explores the rich history and culture of London.
Laura’s amazing art is paired with poems, quotes and historical stories to tell an eye-opening story of the greatest city in the world! From the invasion of the Roman army in 43CE to the story of the Crystal Palace dinosaurs and The Great Stink of 1858, there are fascinating snippets of history to interest everyone.
Laura will be talking about her work and life as an illustrator, as well as leading a draw along, so that you can learn to draw your own favourite scene of London, present or past!
Laura has always loved a story. She has illustrated many books for children, including The Promise, The Iron Man and A World Of Your Own. She has been awarded the V&A Award and the Quentin Blake Drawing Prize, as well as the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava. Laura thinks it’s very important that we hear stories from all over the world. And that children’s books are not just for children.
